Why Test Molds?
Florida mold testing is a very important part of our service. We obtain between 5 and 10 (or more) total samples from most residential properties. For commercial properties and properties with possible future litigation issues, we typically obtain 10 to 20 samples. Obtaining various surface samples can be helpful, but air samples are an instrumental part of all professional South Florida mold testing protocols. These air samples are used to:
- Calculate estimated mold spore levels per cubic meter of the indoor air.
- Determine if mold spore levels indoors are unusually high in comparison to outdoor mold spore levels in your area.
- Compare spore levels at your property to what are considered typical indoor spore levels.
- Identify mold genus and, in some cases, mold species.
- Identify the presence or absence of potentially toxigenic mold types.
- Identify the presence or absence of hydrophilic mold types, these require contact with excessive moister and are thus indicative of actual water intrusion.
We also offer speciation testing of mold samples to report on exact genus and species of molds found at your property using fungal analysis and speciation by PCR genetic analysis of mold. We can also use viable sampling or culturing using Andersen impactor plates. This is important in legal cases. Just let us know ahead of time.
