Where did my mold inspector get that idea?
Reference Book or His Imagination?
Mold problems and the solutions to them can sometimes be simple and straightforward. It may not require the involvement of an independent mold inspector.
Sometimes mold problems are complex and true long term solutions for them can be elusive. It may require knowledge of indoor air quality, building forensics, and mold biology. It is in these situations that the services of a mold inspector are needed.
Unfortunately, you should never assume that your mold inspector's testing methods, interpretations of findings, and written answers and recommendations, will be valid or non-bias.
Do you know where your inspector came up with his or her opinions or suggestion? After hurricane Wilma, Francis, and jean hit Stuart homes, ripped roofs of houses in Fort Perice, and disrupted lives and routines in Jensen Beach, Port St Lucie, and Vero many unqualified mold inspectors came out of the wood work offering poor advice and taking advantage of people.
Can your inspector back up opinions and suggestions with meaningful certifications, experience, books and other literature, or are you relying on the unverifiable opinions of a stranger?
Besides 15 years home inspection experience, 5 years mold inspection experience, and several mold inspector certifications, our inspector has read and base many opinions on the following books:
1)World Wide Mold Exposure Standards
For Mold and Bacteria
References:
Robert Brandys, PhD, MPH, PE, CIH, CSP, CMR and Gail Brady MS, CSP, CMR
Contains lots of information on low medium and high mold spore levels in indoor environments with stats from scientist and governments from around the world.

Department of Health Care Administration, Diwan Collage of Management, Tainan, Taiwan
The article states that mold odors has be shown to greatly increase a child's chances of developing asthma, this is not a reaction but the development of a health condition just from mold odors.
